I believe El Pollo Rico is the best inexpensive and most satisfying dinner in Arlington. It has been featured on multiple blogs, restaurant reviews and even Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations.

I moved four blocks away from the Virginia Square metro stop two months ago, but arguably more important is how close I now live to El Pollo Rico, a Peruvian chicken restaurant at 932 N Kenmore Street, Arlington, VA 22201. I have eaten here for a little over a year and am looking forward to going more often with my friends.

El Pollo Rico thrives on catering comfort food and simplicity. The food is basic. Would you like a quarter, half or whole chicken, with slaw or without, some steak fries and some of their signature dipping sauces?

Where do you recommend eating out in the Washington D.C. metro area?

Crystal City Twilighter 5k Race Result

July 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

It was 8:00 p.m on Saturday 26, 2008 and I was in Crystal City.

Crystal City hosted to the inaugural Crystal City Twilighter 5k. I was joined by two other runners from my running team and we had a great time. The course was relatively flat and there was a small breeze although I think I suffered from what must have been a bit of heat exhaustion. Even though the race took place during the twilight hours the temperature must have been hovering around 75-80 degrees.

I was aiming for 30 minutes, however due to the chest pains I eluded to earlier I only came in at 34 minutes 11 seconds. The time wasn’t bad; however I feel I could have had a much better performance.

Congratulations to Crystal City for putting on a great event. The volunteers were friendly and it was comforting to see so many runners from across Arlington join in.

I truly hope they hold the next twilighter again next year. Anyone out there run a 5k, 10k, half or full marathon recently?
